  • The teachers are incredibly nice and try their best to help you

Skiplex is brilliant and really helps your skiing technique. I go to Skiplex once a week with school and always feel like I  cannot wait. You improve in stages called levels. For example, I am working towards Level 6. The teachers are incredibly nice and try their best to help you. The Skiplex slope is made of something that looks quite like fake grass (but white). The instructors sometimes spray the slope with water so that the skis can slide across it. Although it may not look like a proper ski slope with real snow it truly feels like it is.

  • They really enjoyed the party and loved learning to ski

My twins had a party at your Skiplex in Reading on Saturday and just wanted to pass on my sincere thanks to Shelley and the other young lad who organised such a lovely time for my girls and their friends. I am not sure what his name was as he had 10 very giggling little girls asking him his name and he played along really well but kept giving different names so I wasn't sure what his name was myself.

In all seriousness though, they really enjoyed the party and loved learning to ski - I have had fantastic feedback from parents and kids alike and am sure you will see them all there again.

Special thanks to Shelley who took my booking and looked after everyone on the day. She was a star!

  • I personally was very impressed with both the tuition and the service that was provided by Skiplex

I personally was very impressed with both the tuition and the service that was provided by Skiplex. It was extremely pleasing to see the pupils progressing so much in only half an hour. Providing this ski trip is successful, I will be setting up more in the future and will have no hesitation in directing our pupils to Skiplex. I have had nothing but positive feedback from all the pupils and their parents.

  • All in all the Skiplex absolutely made the holiday infinitely more enjoyable

Before we went to Meribel this year; Cara had done a week in Bulgaria over 15 years ago; and I had done some cross country skiing and less then week alpine skiing over 15 years ago. Basically you wouldn't have put your money on us. To add to this our friends had been skiing at least 5 times in the last 10 years and some even every year (twice a year).

After the first couple of hours adjusting to the snow, we went from strength  to strength. So much so that on the second day I went out with the boys on my own and we had to stop because one of them didn't have the fitness in his legs to keep up. Cara improved massively over the week, but purely because she got more confident as the week went on.

We did a 3 hour lesson the first day, which was a waste of time, compared with the Skiplex sessions. It was too slow and too basic.

We stuck to the blue and red runs, but I could probably have tackled a black or two.

All in all the Skiplex absolutely made the holiday infinitely more enjoyable as we were ready, both technique and fineness wise.

  • Skiplex is definitely something I'd recommend to anyone who counts themselves as a beginner

Following my six sessions at Skiplex I'm now back from Courmayeur and have sufficiently recovered from the litres of Jägermeister to get in touch and let you know how it went.

Courmayeur is a great place to ski, and the snow was fantastic. I am pleased to say that all Skiplex's marketing is absolutely true - I did (just about) keep up with everyone, and did my first black run on Saturday, followed by a bit of off-piste on Sunday. The great thing about getting enough training in advance is that you develop the instincts to give you confidence that you will be able to get down anything, and after that it's just about trying to pick up style and speed.

Skiplex is definitely something I'd recommend to anyone who counts themselves as a beginner - it's a great way to dodge spending half your time away in ski school.

Thanks to my instructor, Owen - all the best!

  • Genuinely stunned at how well Skiplex prepared me

Genuinely stunned at how well Skiplex prepared me.  I had never Snowboarded before and I had 5 lessons in Reading with Ollie and Drew. Got to Zermatt, straight up the lift and with some hesitation at first, hurled myself down a blue run.  What do you know, I could snowboard and as the week went on and i got more experience i could snowboard well. Thank you Skiplex for making it the best winter holiday i've had in years. Will definitely be coming back in the summer to get some turns in.  Won't be back to ski's now it's all about the board and I never thought I'd say that. Credit to the team and the slopes there.

  • The athlete can drive his movements through each turn and continuously check and improve his technique

The (Skiplex) facility optimises technical training because the speed and gradient can be varied and there is a big mirror at the end of the piste. The athlete can drive his movements through each turn and continuously check and improve his technique.

  • This was a powerful and unexpected discovery

Immediate impression (on snow) - I felt really balanced, controlled and aware of ALL of my movements. This latter fact was amazing. Unless you happen to be really technically aware and understand kinesiology etc, developing the skill to be able to feel the subtleties in your movement / balance takes years to master. This is true in any sport / discipline and is this difference between being average and breaking into the expert ranks.

This was a powerful and unexpected discovery, especially as I am very technically aware and understand movement. It normally it takes me a period of 'reconditioning' to my skiing before my full senses return. Consequently, I was able to constantly adjust and refine my movements and match them to the movement patterns practiced / learnt on the Skiplex. A stark contrast to the 'dry slope to snow' transition I had last week, where I felt edgy/unbalanced and, unusually for me, tentative for the first few runs - a bit like walking on an icy pavement. To be able to give skiers this feeling / ability should not be underestimated.

Now for the obvious differences; surface and slope. All the variables have been removed on the Skiplex, which allows for rapid reinforcement of correct movement patterns and development of the the ability to 'feel'. The surface feels like warm snow, smooth and constant. By comparison, snow is an slippier and looser surface to physically move the skis on, but changes with every turn. As a result, errors in technique get masked whilst subtle balance movements take priority. Add to the mix the lack of immediate feedback (mirror + coach) and you can see how the learning process is considerably lengthened.

  • The feedback and results were nothing short of remarkable

I've visited Chiswick to play golf for the past 10-15years, and when the Skiplex facility went up I was intrigued. I've been skiing 32 years all over the world (Northern Hemisphere only unfortunately) and just watching it I related to the concept as pure genius.

Then in Jan/Feb 2012 I booked my wife (snowboarder) and my 4yr old daughter (skier) in for a bunch of sessions pre-ski trip to get back into the swing of things (wife) and get a headstart before starting ski-school for the 1st time (daughter) before our annual fortnight ski trip to Utah... the feedback and results were nothing short of remarkable. I can categorically say that our daughter excelled at ski-school on that Feb trip.

Then in Dec 2012 I got her 6-lessons before we headed back to Utah for 10-days over xmas/new years holidays... We managed to book the head children and youth instructor/examiner at Park City Ski School who took our daughter for 7-days of private lessons, her finishing remarks to me were "your daughter is doing in 1 week what kids who live here in Park City accomplish in a season, she is skiing dynamically, its a big accomplishment and even more so for a destination-skier".  Admittedly our daughter (now 5yrs old) participates in a lot of sport and may have a genetic advantage in that both her parents are pro-sport and accomplished in various disciplines of sports... regardless, I strongly believe Skiplex has proven it can deliver on its promise to accelerate the learning curve. It certainly has to me.
